Beccles Library is one of many libraries in the Suffolk County to be threatened by budget cutting closures, yet the towns Library looks to live on.
The county council are looking at transferring 20 of 44 Sufolk library’s running over to businesses and voluntary groups, but Beccles Library has been highlighted as one to keep.
Leader of Suffolk County Council, Mark Bee and Beccles Mayor Brian Taylor have both been fighting for its survival.
The Library currently serves an area of over 20,000 people and its closure would mean Beccles and surrounding areas would lose a brilliant source.
Beccles is well known for its culture. Every year the town sees a tremendous Summer Street Festival along with the popular Music Festival.
A piece of that culture, thankfully, looks to beat those budget cuts, with the Library looking to stay open.
