Beccles Plans for New Leisure Centre

Beccles is due to have the existing sports complex on Ringsfield Road replaced with a new £6.5 million Leisure Centre

The Centres rejuvenation would include several new sports areas with climbing wall, badminton courts and sprung floors all down in the plans. The project is a partnership between local councils, private sector investors and the Sir John Lehman High School.

The Schools Head Teacher Jeremy Rowe told the BBC:

“It would bring first class sporting and leisure facilities for the first time. I’d say (the plans are) well advanced without being definite. We’re in that in-between stage but people are very confident. I think there’s a very good chance we can deliver this to the town.”

Mr Rowe also commented about how the plans would be put into place,

“We’re working with a company called Pulse – it’s a good business venture for them and they feel they can make a return on that investment long term. The only way nowadays to bring this sort of project together is to work with private enterprise and local organisations and make these things happen.”
