Beccles Resident Hosts Show on Jazz FM

Amber Butchart, who started out as a pupil of Sir John Leman High School, will host her own show along with DJ co host Nisha Thirkell on London’s Jazz FM.

From Thursday the former Beccles girl will have the 6pm-7pm slot on Jazz FM with their show entitled ‘Peppermint Candy’. The pair were first recognised for their ‘Broken Hearts DJ’ act, which featured swing music from its very beginnings to contemporary artists of the genre.

From starting out in Beccles Amber has worked throughout the creative world. She has been a fashion buyer for London store Beyond Retro and has modelled for vogue.

Her music is also linked to the modelling scene. In October 2007 the pairs single ‘Black Cats’ was played at that years London Fashion Week.

Since then the duo have gone on to perform in Milan, Stockholm, Paris as well as many British venues.

Amber told The Waveney Advertiser: “I am very excited about Peppermint Candy. A lot of people do not realise how swing music still influences music today.”
