There are a range of great places to explore and walk around Beccles
The great thing about Beccles is that you have a range of places to explore. The area around Beccles quay is especially good as there are clear paths around the river, giving you maps and clear footpaths to make it easier to know your way around.
A great starting point is St Michaels Church. It is notable for being the only church in the UK with the tower separate from the church, giving you a clear starting and finishing point for any walk around the town (it also benefits from being round the corner from the bus stop, meaning you can get home reasonably soon if you are visiting from outside the town).
A simple walk down the road from St Michaels Church gets you to the quay where it is simple to walk around with a lovely view of the river. The church and the tower is worth exploring around.
If you fancy something a bit longer we have set up a special church to church walk. Starting from St Michael’s Church head South, then head left on the New Market. As you go right on Exchange Square, left on Blyburgate, left on Ingate, right on Ellough Road, right on Castle Hill and then you should arrive at St Luke’s Church, another distinct church that is worth exploring around.
This is just one example of the landmarks you can tour around to get the full experience of the charming market town of Beccles.
